Aerobics
Aerobics is definitely another favorite Spaddiction. There are two types of Aerobic classes I attend. The one is step-aerobics the other is dance aerobics .Both provide a great workout and more importantly both are fun to do. In general music for me is a crucial element to any exercise.
As someone I know once said when my MP3 player broke before a run “How can you do it ? It’s like running without an engine “.So it’s important you find a teacher who has good taste in music : ) I have been blessed with one of the best instructors at Wingate. She knows how to gel a class together like no other that I have been to. She makes it fun to be in a class.
Now most men will shy away from aerobics due to lack of co-ordination and stigma that may be attached to a male member of the species doing it but GET OVER IT !!! The most important thing is you are burning the calories and having fun while doing it. As with all exercise when you are overweight there is the embarrassment\shyness factor of being in these situations for both males and females . Try to forget about what others are thinking and realize you are doing it for yourself and should not care what others are saying. Give your 110% in each class and the fat will peel away in no time.
There are some cases in which I do draw the line. It usually involves a “shimmy” move or similar which makes you shake your booty like a belly dancer of sorts. I still have not gotten over this hurdle yet : ) . I am glad at times like these there is no video proof of any of the classes . In fact I often feel like pinching my cheeks to make sure its not a dream and I am actually attending a class like this…. But then I think f…. it.
Regarding the co-ordination it comes with time. In the beginning I was at the back of the class crashing into all but with a little practice everything can become perfect. It’s as always mind over matter. Speaking of the mind aerobics improves your co-ordination immensely. You have to think the whole class and remember the combination. I think it’s a good brain exercise for those with short term memory problems.
